The Manaslu Tour Trek, Nepal

The 8th highest peak in the world (8163 m)

Trekking tour of Manaslu and the Tsum Valley finds its exceptional beauty and serenity beyond the tragic year of 2015. The earthquake hit the northeast of the Annapurna and the northwest of the Langtang Ganesh Himal. In fact, the major epicenter of the earthquake was located there. After two years of mourning and rehabilitation of the sites (2015-2016), trekking resumed its activities. In 2018, everything is operational everywhere. Moreover, the Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) recorded the arrival of 7,580 visitors on December 30, 2018

Life has resumed in the Manaslu region, and the lodges and tea houses have recovered and resumed operations. Welcoming tourists has become such a priority for the population that everything is being done to facilitate their stays and travel. We can still see traces of landslides and a few ruined houses from the earthquake along the trekking route. Tea houses and guest houses are fully operational after a general renovation.

Access
The 117 km journey on a private 4x4 track from Kathmandu directly to Arughat/Soti, or cover the distance in 7/8 hours on a local collective bus.

The Kathmandu -Barpak journey, 200 km in 7/8 hours always in 4x4 on a "sport" track or spend 9/10 hours in local collective bus. This road takes you to important villages in North Gorkha where the Gurungs (one of the largest ethnic groups in Nepal) have always resided. Barpak is the epicenter of the 2015 earthquake which was terrible for these populations. It was necessary to completely rebuild villages like Barpak, Laprak and Singla, Gumda. This reconstruction is nearing completion at the beginning of 2019. The road is uneven but exciting to travel, it is a reward then to rub shoulders with the local culture as the relations with the Gurungs are easy, warm and... smiling.
