Nepal is a land of Paradise for trekkers since it has been open to the foreigners. Nepal as a well known trekking destination and its growing charm, a provision of Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) has been introduced by Government to ensure safety and security of trekkers and to control illegal trekking operations. All the trekking company does support the system being the member of TAAN.
The past records show that there have been many obstacles while carrying out Rescue Operations in the trekking region during the times of crisis and natural calamities. The incomplete information of trekkers and the improper recording system makes the rescue team very difficult to carryout the rescue. So in order to record the about the trekkers and their trekking routes, TIMS card has been introduced from 1st of April 2010, it has to be issued in the office of TAAN and need to be carry during the trekking.
