Manaslu lies in the mid northern Tibet border of Nepal within Gorkha District. This region has just been opened to visitors. Finally permits to all who really wants to enter the mythical universe of living Tibetan tradition. Gorkha is a small independent state from where the unification of modern Nepal began; it is the starting point of the trek. The Gurung village of Laprak is reached by two different routes; either along the Daraundi valley or the hillside of Dharchey. Dharchey is a magnificent panoramic view point to admire the lofty mountain summits like Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Buddha Himal, Himalchuli, Annapurna and so on.
The trail towards Roupina goes along a ridge of a mountain through rhododendron forest. After Dharchey there are no villages until we get to the valley that leads us to Manaslu. We will have opportunity to explore their customs and cultures, monasteries, prayer flags, prayer wheel and prayer walls after Nyak village.
