Kathmandu is quite close to Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal Himal and Rolwaling and you can view an excellent panorama of these and other mountains from the hills surrounding Kathmandu. Likewise, Kathmandu and its vicinity is home to ethnic Newar and Tamang community. Through an off route ride, you can explore the rims and ridges of Kathmandu and Pokhara valleys that weave in and out of cities or you can bike along the Kodari highway right up to Tibet viewing the charming hills and mountains on the way.
Mountain bikes are easily available for rent by day or for longer durations at various outlets in the tourist hubs of Kathmandu and Pokhara. Accommodation and food are available at most stopovers.
