The lush green forest of the Terai is home to many wild animals. Chitwan National Park, that lies at a convenient distance from capital Kathmandu, is home to hundreds of species of wild animals including the endangered species of Royal Bengal Tiger, one-horn Rhino, wild elephants, pythons, crocodiles, bear, many species of dears and about 450 species of birds. Tourists can get a close view of these animals and their activities by roaming around the jungle on an elephant back, on a safari Jeep or on foot with a nature guide if you have a strong heart.
